Helping Our Neighbors

The forestryinmaine Directory donates ten percent of our profits to the American University of the Caribbean located in Les Cayes, Haiti. The university has started an agroforestry nursery to provide local farmers with multi-purpose trees for their agro-forestry systems. Some varieties of trees already established in the nursery include Lucaena and Moringa, both of which can be used as forage for cattle. We also want to help the university obtain seed for Inga, Bactris, as well as the indigenous mahogany.

If you would like to help, contributions can be sent directly to:

We are proud of the Maine forest industry's long heritage of good stewardship of the land and the forest resource here in our nation's most heavily forested state. So we feel it's appropriate for us to help in the re-forestation of our hemishpere's most heavily de-forested nation.
