Meet our conductor
Margie Landis
Music Director and Conductor

Margery Landis has been directing
bands in the mid-coast area for many years. From 1986-1995 she
taught instrumental music in the elementary schools of SAD#75
and directed the Elementary School Honors Band. She has been
Director of Bands at Mt. Ararat Middle School since 1995, where
she leads the Concert and Jazz Bands. Her bands have performed
in the Hall of Flags at the state capital in Augusta (1993),
at Maine Music Educators Conferences (1995, 2003, and 2007),
the Augusta Civic Center for the Maine Association of Middle
Level Educators (2000), in Providence , Rhode Island, for the
New England League of Middle Schools (2001), and annually along
the shores of the Cathance River.
Ms. Landis is active as a horn
player and teacher. She serves on the applied music faculty of
Colby and Bates Colleges, plays Principal Horn in the Colby College
orchestra, and in the horn section of the Midcoast Symphony Orchestra.
She has performed with the Maine Chamber Ensemble, Utah Symphony,
Spokane Symphony, Washington-Idaho Symphony, Northwest Wind Quintet,
and Idaho Brass Quintet.
Margery received a B.A. in Music
History from the University of New Hampshire and a M.M. in Performance
from the University of Idaho. Her primary teachers include Verne
Windham of Spokane, and Mike Hatfield at the Aspen Music Festival.
